ABOUT US

Head of School Message

Putnam Science Academy has a unique history dating back to 1928 and has morphed from a women’s-only Catholic school into a co-educational international boarding school.

As the times have changed, so has our school. Not coincidentally then, Putnam Science Academy has won countless awards for educational and athletic competitions, each time establishing a new standard of excellence.

We are all so very proud of all of the hard work and dedication all of our students bring to the school. The skills they are building and developing as part of this Putnam Science Academy family will be carried with each of them once their time in this community is finished and they move on to the next chapters of their lives.

Developing students who are not only educationally solid but also unique, compassionate, and inspiring individuals is our goal here at Putnam Science Academy.

I encourage you to come to campus, see our students in action – on the field and courts and in the classroom – and experience what makes us such an unique place.

Respectfully,

Sarah Healey, Head of School.

history of psa

The school first founded on our site was in 1928, by the Daughters of the Holy Spirit. Over the course of time it morphed into a Catholic High School in the 1950’s and then in 2002 it was taken over and converted into an international boys boarding school, for the purpose of improving intercultural dialogue and the opportunity of accessing the best universities within America and worldwide. Students came from a variety of countries worldwide and from a large number of states within America.

The school changed hands over the summer of 2015, in order to provide an injection of capital investment. A number of renovation projects are ongoing, along with the business of providing high quality prep school education for a small group of students. Hand in hand with the renovation of residential, classroom and sporting facilities, the school will be expanding its pool of students from a wider group. The mission and core values remain the constant theme of the school.

As educators, we value Personal Development – we are dedicated to the personal development of our students. From the dorm to academic life, we strive to honor the uniqueness of each individual and embrace diverse backgrounds. We prepare students for lives in a multicultural society by developing a strong, inclusive community during their day, after school and on the weekends. Service – we promote the active engagement of our students in the local and global community so that they become contributing members of society. Academics – we provide our students with a challenging, well-rounded education that includes the arts, humanities, mathematics, the sciences and technology that will prepare them for college.

mission statement

Putnam Science Academy strives to develop young adults, locally and from around the world, who are committed to academic excellence and are engaged citizens.

Our goal is to provide a challenging educational program to prepare all students for acceptance into the top universities in the United States and across the world.
