WILTON, N.H. – Kel Merckel scored the game-winning goal in the 90th minute to touch off a wild celebration Saturday and lead PSA to a 2-1 victory in its first game of the season.
Merckel received the ball from Tomás Melon a bit outside the 18 and put it home, something the Mustangs had trouble doing throughout the game.
“We weren’t finishing all game and I was very frustrated,” Merckel said. “And I didn’t have one of the best games either. Tomás touched it to me and I was finally able to finish it.
“There were a lot of emotions…relieved, excited, I was pumped. It was a tough game and I’m happy we got the three points.”
Fran Barcelo scored the Mustangs’ first goal, also off an assist from Melon.
